ALPACA pre-orders up now and new song premier + rad new distro titles to the Robotic Empire Online Store

Robotic Empire is excited to announce that pre-orders are now available for ALPACA's debut album, both physically and digitally. Set for release October 1st, Demimonde is the first release from ALPACA and explores new ground for both the label and band members involved.

Comprised of vocalist/guitar player Justin Nuckols and multi-instumentalist Allen Blickle, Demimonde was recorded over a five year period across locations in New York and the members' native Virginia. Much of ALPACA's material was initially created throughout arduous tour schedules for BARONESS, the accomplished hard rock band for which Blickle drummed.

The dance, pop, and melody-driven compositions Blickle crafted for ALPACA juxtapose with Nuckols’ darker, groove-focused, and harmonic vocal explorations.

This musical collaboration from two ex-step-brothers began in the late '90s while high school students in the small Appalachian town of Lexington, VA. After separate nomadic wanderings, Nuckols and Blickle both wound up in Brooklyn, NY in 2007.

ALPACA intermittently recorded material between BARONESS' tour activities, finally hunkering down in the winter of 2012-2013 to expand their mutual visions and perfect mixes, ultimately finishing a body of work many years in the making.

To compliment the level of detail the music received, the vinyl edition of Demimonde comes housed in a five-color gatefold LP jacket with added spot-gloss finish. Accordingly elaborate color vinyl is available , and joined by a high-quality digital download. 800 color vinyl LPs were pressed + 200 black vinyl, and a CD edition is also available.

We're absolutely thrilled to finally have this album just about done. It's been a long ass time since Allen first played us some proto-Paca jams in the old Robo HQ and we're truly excited to help an old friend with a fantastic debut release.

Beyond that cool label activity, we've got a powerhouse of righteous new items in the Robotic Empire - Online Store. First off, we have to note the absolutely insane multi-vinyl releases from THE OCEAN! Pelagic Records really went beyond the standards of "norm" with those releases, plus more GOD IS AN ASTRONAUT on vinyl for the die-hards. Also on the rad-import-tip is the pseudo-sanctioned CURSED "bootleg" LPs, which are just what you'd hope and expect. Semi-ALPACA-related is the badass old BARONESS / UNPERSONS split LP newly available on red color vinyl, and we also got the new LP from THE BODY, also released by At A Loss. Label-favorite FOREST SWORDS is finally here, give that one a chance. Some rippers (CAPTIVE BOLT, CIVILIZATION, EYC) from the newly revived Dead Tank label/distro are now in stock, plus a slew of tapes from Like Young. Appropriately horrific and terrifying is the ungodly COFFINS Colossal Hole 10" for the true freaks. Also good to see To Live A Lie cranking out filthy high-quality grind (ASSHOLE PARADE, MEHKAGO NT) as always. Good stuff abound, here's the full list:

Alpaca Premiere Via MTV Hive!

Awesome ALPACA interview+song premiere via MTV Hive:

"...the sound is so different from Baroness. Do you think people will be surprised or taken aback by the change?

For sure. I hope they are. Thatís sort of what itís all about ó jumping and taking chances. Doing something you love, you know. This is the type of music that Iíve always be into. Iíve always been into pop music since I was a kid, and then I got into, like, punk rock and metal early on, but I always had that side. When you start producing music you kind of like put your limbs out and try a bunch of different things and I think how this record kind of took shape was all these different influences. Itís from the heart and it feels good."

Robotic Empire announces ALPACA debut album release + massive update to Online Store

We are stoked to announce that Los Angeles / Brooklyn duo ALPACA will release their debut album Demimonde via Robotic Empire this October! Comprised of vocalist Justin Nuckols and multi-instrumentalist Allen Blickle, Demimonde was recorded across locations in New York and the members' native Virginia.

Much of ALPACA's material was initially created during arduous tour schedules for BARONESS, the accomplished hard rock band for which Blickle drummed. The dance, pop, and melody-driven compositions Blickle crafted for ALPACA juxtapose with Nuckols’ darker, groove-focused, and harmonic vocal explorations.

Blickle and Nuckols (who also are ex-step brothers) hunkered down in Brooklyn during the winter of 2012-2013, expanding their mutual visions and perfecting mixes, ultimately finishing a body of work many years in the making. The end-result is a stunning debut, which we are thrilled to release to the world both on vinyl and digitally.

Demimonde will be available in October, and a teaser trailer can be viewed on ALPACA's YouTube channel:

We've known Allen a long time, and it's been amazing to watch this longrunning project gradually develop from self-recordings into a full-fledged, killer album. Majorly looking forward to releasing this come October, with lots of cool previews on deck in the weeks to come.

ALPACA is pretty switched on with the electronic omnipresence, so if you're also inclined: Follow and Like and Share and all that good stuff!

We are stoked to announce that the debut from PALMS (comprised of 3/5ths of ISIS with Chino Moreno from DEFTONES on vocals) has just been released on cassette by Robotic Empire!

Lush and ethereal, the six songs PALMS deliver on their first offering combine strengths from each of the aforementioned bands without resting on laurels. Plentiful amounts of bliss and beauty merge with just the right level of heavy, yielding a brilliant balance that comes from longtime veterans of cutting-edge music.
Ipecac has released the CD and vinyl for PALMS stunning debut, and Robotic Empire is thrilled to present this cassette edition with a bonus demo version of "Short Wave Radio" included. ISIS' Celestial vinyl reissue, rad new items in the Robotic Empire Online Store

We are now taking pre-orders for ISIS' first album, Celestial, which Robotic Empire has just reissued on 2xLP with nice packaging. The manufacturing is all done, and with a July 9th release date we hope to have it in your hands just around that time. You can pick it up now in the Robotic Empire - Online Store.

For those unfamiliar with the release, the now-classic debut full-length Celestial highlights ISIS' roots in metal and hardcore while displaying the experimentation with post-rock and ambience that they would become best known for. Accurately described by Decibel Magazine as "a transitional record between the band's early work and the post-metal benchmarks such as Oceanic ... the elements of the greatness are present, but rawer, more direct." Initially surfacing in 2000 following the larvael stages of formative EPs, Celestial was ISIS' first release with the (then newly-solidified) lineup that would last them through a decade until disbanding in 2010.

With chugging sludge, expansive doom, droning metal and a nuanced yet vital use of keys, samples and noise, Celestial at times borders on completely devastation, but gracefully shifts into passages of sheer beauty. ISIS came into their own with Celestial, mastering the flow of sonic dynamics between "loud" and "quiet", smoothly bringing sparse elements into an otherwise oppressively heavy sound.
This unique and varied album of nearly an hour's length was their first captured by engineer Matt Bayles, who subsequently recorded ISIS' following three long-players. Aaron Turner's artwork has been fully reimagined from the original elements, and the double LPs are housed in a jacket with printed innersleeves containing flood-black interior printing. Out of print for years, Celestial is finally available again with newly remastered audio, carefully crafted specifically for vinyl by longtime cohort James Plotkin.
We've pressed 2000 copies of this and they turned out great: 1100 black vinyl, and 300 each of three variations of yellow.

Another noteworthy highlight is that a recent release from last month, SOME STRANGER's debut 12" EP, has received some nice praise from the glossy UK mag Rock Sound. Both a feature and review were in their last issue, and a larger graphic can be viewed here

That one has been a fun release for us, a little outside our comfort zone yet a very powerful debut from some longtime friends of the label.

New stuff in Robotic Empire's Online Store (HUM, CONVERGE, JK FLESH, HOAX, TOUCHE AMORE, etc etc etc)

Almost 1-month to the day from our last update (with lots of killer new stuff, plus key re-presses from TORCHE and BARONESS), we're back with another round of awesome stuff in the Robotic Empire - Online Store.

We've got a wicked variety of cool stuff for this update, including one item which we're incredibly jealous (and mildly frustrated) NOT to have been a part of. After years of harassing HUM about letting us reissue their incredible catalog, Shop Radio Cast beat everyone (including the band) to the punch. The resulting proof is in the pudding though, as their reissue of You'd Prefer An Astronaut really did turn out nice, along with the reissue treatment for two bangin QUICKSAND 12"s.

Beyond the special attention to that stuff, there are many other high-calibre items here including new items from CONVERGE, HOAX, JK FLESH, LOMA PRIETA, IN LOVING MEMORY, MAGIC CIRCLE, plus splits from TRIAC / D.O.C., TOUCHE AMORE / PBTT, DROPDEAD x2 and, YEAR OF NO LIGHT / ALTAR OF PLAGUES, plus imports aplenty from Vendetta/Adagio and some other choice stuff.
On the re-stock tip, we're talkin bout (Willis) crucial stuff from ACID KING, AMENRA, CLOUD RAT, DROPDEAD, GIANTS, GODFLESH, KEN MODE, KIDCRASH, NACHTMYSTIUM, PHOENIX BODIES, RAEIN, PUNCH, ROSETTA, TOUCHE AMORE and WHITEHORSE. Here are the full lists:

SOME STRANGER announce release via Robotic Empire, premier new song

SOME STRANGER will release their debut "Self-Titled" EP on April 2nd (digital) and April 30th (vinyl). Co-released by the band and independent label Robotic Empire, the digital version will be available as a pay-what-you-want download directly from the band via Bandcamp as well as traditional digital retailers. The vinyl will be released as a 45RPM 12" by Robotic Empire and is available for preorder now:

http://www.roboticempire.com/store/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&keyword=Some+Stranger

SOME STRANGER started immediately following the departure of vocalist Tym from his previous endeavor, rock outfit DAYTRADER. Joined by visual artist and guitarist Daniel Danger on guitar, the duo swiftly tracked the EP with Gary Cioffi (TRANSIT, MISSER). The record was then mixed by Vince Ratti (BALANCE AND COMPOSURE, CIRCA SURVIVE) and mastered by Will Yip (TITLE FIGHT, BLACKLISTED).

Alternative Press' recent "100 Bands You Need To Know This Year" feature characterized SOME STRANGER as "a textured, haunting collection that defies easy categorization."

Says vocalist Tym, "We're extremely excited to be working with Robotic Empire on this project. They've released some of our favorite records of all time... Torche, Isis, Jesu, pg99... the list goes on. We sent them some demos as we were writing them and when they offered to help us release it, it was a no-brainer.  We finished up the recording process at the tail end of last year and we can't wait for people to hear it."

Robotic Empire label founder Andy Low added "Having known Tym and Dr. Danger for a long time, it's exciting to hear SOME STRANGER pushing their individual and collective strengths in great ways. Our friends have crafted a powerful debut and we're thrilled to be a part of it!"

"Self-Titled" track listing:

1. On And On
2. Points East
3. Silver & The Sun
4. Song One
5. Sirens
