New FREE Robotic Empire sampler (some exclusive/unreleased stuff/etc)

Its been a long time since we did one of these (4 years, in fact) and while we've intentionally dropped the ball on promotion a bit over the past few years, thankfully we are still able to deliver almost an hour of weird new music for all you freaks, absolutely FREE.

No, we haven't gone "crunk core" (thank jah), we are just so psyched to see LIL JON rocking a new THOU shirt that we had to make an ode to him with this free sampler.

18 tracks, 52 minutes, 101 megabytes for your cranium to comprehend. Free (of course), cause we love you (of course). Lots of choice cuts, plus some unreleased and/or exclusive new jammers, if you're into that sorta thing. Check that shit, SON:

New releases & re-presses from THOU, HEWHOCORRUPTS, SHITSTORM, SUFFOCATE FOR FUCK SAKE and more!

We are psyched to announce that the previously (and quickly) sold out THOU EP, Baton Rouge, You Have Much to Answer For, is now available again on both vinyl and cassette. We re-pressed the vinyl on black (1000) and tapes on red (200). Same artwork, same inserts, same music and all... just available again, this time with a sweet corresponding t-shirt printed up as well. The shirt is (reappropriated) artwork from the gatefold LP jacket's back cover, and turned out really awesome. 2-color front, 1-color back and red & black ink on "athletic grey" sweatshop-free t-shirts; you can see a bigger image of the front artwork here. There's no package deals or anything set up, but we tried to keep the prices pretty low on all this stuff.

For those living under a rock and still unfamiliar with the grossly prolific THOU, they are easily our favorite southern sludge/doom band in years and a true force to be reckoned with both live and on record. A seething ode to their city of inception, Baton Rouge, You Have Much To Answer For contains by far some of THOU's best material released to date, and one of the most downtrodden recordings we've been a part of over the past 11+ years of doing this label. It's an "EP" because it's 4 songs total, but it's also over 30 minutes of crushing music, set to the tune of the end of times. Like all of their recordings, its available for free download on their website or if you're oldschool and want the physical "real thing", this EP and most of the rest of the available THOU releases are available now in the Robotic Empire - Online Store.

Related to this (but not actually our release) is a killer writeup NPR (!) just gave in regards to both THOU's live experience and their new album Summit. Very cool to see such a respected publication shine a little light down into the underground, this time directly onto our friends. You can read the article here and/or pre-order the new Summit CD release from our brethren at Gilead Media (we'll be stocking it too as soon as its publicly available).

At another end of the hardcore/metal spectrum is the recent HEWHOCORRUPTS Midi of Profits USB Rubber Bracelet release. Attacking capitalism through a more tongue-in-cheek approach (vs THOU's somewhat blunt methods), HEWHOCORRUPTS have flown the "corporate grindcore" flag for years, culminating in probably their most absurd release ever (exceeding a credit card-sized CD housed in a wallet, a NSFW split calendar and a 7" packaged with shredded US currency). Yes, that's right... this is a functional AND fashionable USB-chip-infused rubber bracelet with meticulously recreated MIDI-based songs held within, inspired in part by their classic Master of Profits EP which displayed a masterful love/hate relationship with METALLICA. Long story short, this 1gb USB chip bracelet is packed with music, videos, tabulator, animated GIFs and other awesome nonsense to justify the pure stupidity of creating this thing. Limited to 200 copies and available now in the Robotic Empire - Online Store.

Beyond the recent label activity, there's also been a steady stream of killer new stuff and restocks in the Robotic Empire - Online Store. This week we've got another "exclusively distributed" item, the new one from Swedish post-metal outfit SUFFOCATE FOR FUCK SAKE. We couldn't keep their previous stuff in stock, and are the only US outlet you can order this monster 2xLP from. Also new in the expletive-band-name front is the long-awaited blistering split 7" from SHITSTORM and CONGA FURY, showcasing easily the heaviest n' fiercest SHITSTORM tracks to date. Solely re-stocking cassettes this week, mostly from our screamy-hardcore-lovin' Malaysian friends at Utarid, here's the full list:

HEWHOCORRUPTS release "Midi of Profits" USB bracelet (!) on Robotic Empire +big Online Store updates

In the works for a stupidly long time, its kind of amazing we didn't (completely) spill the beans on this one. Chicago's HEWHOCORRUPTS are no stranger to weird releases; the "corporate grindcore" outfit have formerly issued a credit card sized CD housed in a wallet, a NSFW split calendar, an EP packaged with shredded money, etc... but this one probably takes the cake.

Midi of Profits is what it's called, and a frikkin 1gb USB bracelet is what it is: that's right, we've released a rubber USB bracelet with MIDI songs on it. The files in question are meticulously re-created computerized versions of HEWHOCORRUPTS' classic Master of Profits EP, but now with MIDI guitars, machine drums and vocoded vocals. An insane amount of time was spent making these completely absurd tracks, and we are blown away with how accurately they digitally reflect the originals.

To spice it up even further, the band includes tablature for all the songs, two classic/incredible/related music videos, album art, credits and more on this fully functional 1gb USB-chip-infused rubber bracelet. Fashionable AND functional, per the HEWHOCORRUPTS corporate mantra. You can wear it and share it, but the only place to get this beaut is through the Robotic Empire - Online Store (and the band themselves). We only made 200 of these bad mamma jammas, so grab one now or forever cry yourself to sleep.

* LISTEN HERE
* ORDER HERE

Appropriately we are also running a large scale sale at the moment, to clear some room for "fresh new stock" per our own corporate mantra. In other words, we're selling all standalone CDs and DVDs on our site (priced over five bucks) for $2 less than usual right now, even if they're already discounted! This "clearance special" is only running until the end of the month, so check it out now if you like shiny discs on the cheap!

Beyond those white-collar activities, we also have a host of new jams for all the blue-collar and no-collar punx out there. This week the Robotic Empire - Online Store sees new additions from the absurdly prolific THOU, longtime favorites DOVE, Richmond's SOUVENIR'S YOUNG AMERICA's new one, the revamped INTEGRITY and more. Plus a fairly stacked Init Records restock makes this a sweet little stash o' stuff:

Finally, we also want to mention we've added another band to our roster: NEON BASTARD from New Zealand will see their debut album "Meikhaus" released by us on September 7th. Uncomfortably nestled somewhere in the midst of powerviolence/punk/sludge/grind/stoner rock... these four weirdos have concocted an maniacal debut and we're psyched to release it! You can read more about all that here. Heads up!

Thanks ya'll / peace!

Robotic Empire to release NEON BASTARD debut "Meikhaus"

We've teamed up with the Wellington, New Zealand band NEON BASTARD for the release of their debut album, Meikhaus. Comprised of 11 songs in under 22 minutes, Meikhaus is a total blitzkrieg of blasting punk rock, stoner riffs and pure noise.

Two preview tracks have been posted (well, hidden) on the band's hideous myspace page, here:

http://www.myspace.com/NeonBastard
(try zooming out your browser if you want to hear them)

About as far from "normal" as a band can get, Robotic Empire is thrilled to team up with the weirdos in NEON BASTARD, who embody elements vital to underground music: damn good tunes without taking oneself too seriously. A smattering of genres are covered throughout the songs within Meikhaus; the track listing as follows:

1. Steven Tyler
2. Lateman
3. Cock Rock
4. Mangy Feline
5. I'm Your Bastard
6. Don't Tread on Me
7. Mad F'ing
8. Kano and Rongburns on the Nose Candy
9. Pushah
10. Big Dogz
11. c.2023

NEON BASTARD's debut will be available on CD and through digital download worldwide on September 7th, 2010, with a pro-filmed video for "Mangy Feline" to shortly follow the album's release.

New GODS & QUEENS "exclusive" EP, ACROSS TUNDRAS, t-shirts and mo' updates!

A condensed but stacked sesh for the Robotic Empire - Online Store this week. ACROSS TUNDRAS' new album on CD that we ended up not releasing but is really worth checking out and the killer new GODS & QUEENS EP. That one comes from our Italian brothers at Sons of Vesta though and looks like we're the "exclusive distributor" for it stateside... so if you run a store, bedroom distro and/or otherwise wanna wholesale: please get in touch.

ROBOTIC EMPIRE - Online Store Update - Inter Arma 12" available + lots of great distro additions!

After a much-needed vacation, we're now all caught up with Robotic Empire - Online Store orders and ready to jump back into the thick of it. Just in time too, as a new label-affiliated release is ready to roll along with a HEAP of awesome stuff added to the store... so here ya go:

INTER ARMA is a Richmond metal band we've watched grow over the past few years into a truly formidable force. Tastefully spanning most metal genres (blackened chaos through downtrodden sludge), these young freaks have so much going for them that it's pretty amazing to get to work with them in on the ground floor. I think most people who've witnessed them live expect great things for INTER ARMA, and the Mirror Universe partner label (co-releasing with longtime dawgs Forcefield) have just dropped the incredible Sundown debut LP.

Recorded all analog last year in rural Virginia, INTER ARMA deliver six lengthy songs on their first album (seven on the CD solely released by Forcefield). The vinyl includes a download code of all seven songs, and intricately trippy cover art by RVA native Eliza Childress. Printed in black ink on brown chipboard covers, the INTER ARMA debut album finally does the band a bit of justice, and we're seriously thrilled to have a small part in what is undoubtedly one of Virginia's finer exports in quite some time.

* The first song from the album can now be heard on our Facebook page.
* Two different songs (plus an older demo) from the album can be heard on the band's Myspace page.
* The band is embarking on an EPIC full-usa tour with brother band BASTARD SAPLING from June--->August. GO SEE THEM LIVE for the full experience: full dates available here.

Sundown vinyl is available now in the Robotic Empire - Online Store (along with the killer INTER ARMA / BATTLEMASTER split... both bands' vinyl debut), and Sundown vinyl or CD are available from Forcefield Records as well.

Besides the new label-affiliated release, we've stocked a solid stack of stuff in the Robotic Empire - Online Store. Exclusively rock-solid new items (two THOU splits, new [old] TORCHE demos 10", KRALLICE, NADJA, SICK / TIRED, both killer "Clone" comp LPs, etc)... plus some gnarly re-stocks and over 250 (!) newly or additionally discounted items. That brings the massive sale list up to nearly 600 items. We're running out of room again, so we've discounted almost everything we carry with a quantity of 3 or greater, so check out that massive list of stuff as there's huge discounts on an expansive variety of genres and formats. Here're the full lists...

YOUNG WIDOWS re-pressed, TORCHE robbed (!), new T-SHIRTS and more

Damn, the killer updates to the Robotic Empire - Online Store just keep on comin! This week we've got the recent re-press of YOUNG WIDOWS live LP, on 180 GRAM maroon colored vinyl. 500 more of these jammers got pressed up in the 2nd (final?) pressing of this killer window into an awesome live band prime in their element: LIVE! Between spreading around copies to the band and our distributor, we got less than 200 copies of this and its available from us now.

In addition to that, we've gotten in some new & exclusive t-shirt designs direct from the bands TORCHE and TIDELAND. Touring with COHEED AND CAMBRIA, TORCHE recently passed through Seattle and handed off some excess records and shirts to us since their old van died and the new one is smaller. With so much gear, no more trailer and 1 more guitar player meant passing off some extra merch to us. Unfortunately, since then TORCHE was ruthlessly robbed in Chicago with several guitars, amps, passports, laptops and other personal stuff stolen. In other words: a MAJOR bummer on a tour that's already kinda hand-to-mouth since they just borrowed money for a new van. They've booked some last-minute shows on the east coast since they can't get into Canada without their passports... so go see them & buy em a drink or something if ya can! They're pretty gutted after having custom gear and irreplaceable stuff ripped off by jerks, so if you can help them out in any way, they would hugely appreciate it!

In better news though, TIDELAND printed up some wacky shirts recently to have for upcoming touring in support of their debut Asleep In The Graveyard album we dropped a few weeks back. If you haven't checked out TIDELAND yet, we highly recommend them. A killer (and catchy) combination of shoegazer, grunge and punk rock to create some kind of all-new megabeast. Three album tracks (including one new one) have been posted here and several others can be streamed here. TIDELAND merch & records are available from us here and TORCHE merch & records are available from us here.

In addition to the above shirts, we also worked out something with MAN IS THE BASTARD too so the classic skull logo shirts of theirs we carry are about as "officially licensed" as they're gonna get! Stoked on that! Re-upped 'em in both black & white, so check those out. Also scored a pile of killer new vinyl releases, including several BARONESS 12"s (which we can never keep in stock for long), spacey EARTHLESS jawns, GODFLESH galore, GROWING, the long awaited LA QUIETE / PHOENIX BODIES 5" import, some sweet VALKYRIE CD reissues and way more. THOU - Baton Rouge 12" now available! +hella rare archive finds (ISIS, TORCHE, JESU, etc)

Quite a long time in the making (and many production headaches later), we are incredibly thrilled to announce our first vinyl release with longtime bros THOU. These Louisiana heathens have been cranking out a steady stream of sludge/doom gold since their inception a few years ago, and like fools we passed on releasing their debut album Tyrant, only to continuously regret it ever since.

Now though after years of talk, we finally put our money where our mouths are and deliver the good proper with this beautiful gatefold 12" EP release. It's an "EP" because it's 4 songs total, but it's also over 30 minutes of crushing music, set to the tune of the end of times. A seething ode to their city of inception, Baton Rouge, You Have Much To Answer For contains by far some of THOU's best material released to date. The perfect marriage of sludge, melody, doom, hatred and melancholy... this is powerful stuff, and we're honored to present it to you.

Available on red or clear vinyl, this 12" EP is for sale now in the Robotic Empire - Online Store

You can stream the bulk of the EP at our myspace page or download it (and everything else they've released) at the band's website.

It'd also be a good time to mention the other recent vinyl releases we've just dropped from TIDELAND (Asleep In The Graveyard debut 12"), CAPSULE (Self-Titled collections 12") and FLOOR (Below & Beyond discography deluxe box set), all of which are still available from us. The label hasn't been this active with new releases in a LONG time and it'd help us heaps if you picked something up.

On that same tip, we dug up a bunch of personal archive stash stuff and put it up on the store. Sold out releases from ISIS (the box set!), TORCHE (first two LPs) and the BATTLE OF MICE / JESU split as well. It's highly unlikely we'll ever be re-stocking any of that stuff again, so strike now or forever hold your peace.

And last but not least, of course, are the new items and restocks to the Robotic Empire - Online Store. Two killer THOU splits restocked from our European brethern at Adagio/Vendetta along with their solid catalog titles (SALOME, INDIAN SUMMER) and always-quality new releases too (NADJA, SINALOA, etc). Another new YEAR OF NO LIGHT record, this time a crazy 2xLP import, and probably the only mailorderable copies anywhere of the old SNACK TRUCK demo 7"! With a bunch of other solid releases as well, this is a good batch of stuff... here ya go:
