HISSING CHOIR - 3 live songs (first show)

Just unearthed an old minidisc recording of the first HISSING CHOIR show. Thought some people might want to hear this:

http://www.archive.org/details/HissingChoir-FirstShowlive3Songs

This is a (rough) recording of the first ever HISSING CHOIR show. They were a short lived (but never truly "broken up") band comprised of members of PG99, CRESTFALLEN, PIG DESTROYER and TRIAC... essentially trying their hardest to sound like SWANS but still being fairly unique. These are three songs from their first show, so it's sorta rough around the edges, but still pretty intense for a FIRST SHOW. Not sure if these guys will ever actually release anything so I decided to finally upload this. I think the mic got dropped during the first song while I handed Mike a beer bottle to use as a slide, that may explain the partial dropout about halfway in the first song there. Not positive, but I think the show was sometime in October of 2003 at the Talking Head in Baltimore, MD (it may have still been the "old" Ottobar back then?). It was recorded with a cheapo Sharp brand MD-MT15 portable minidisc recorder and a tiny clip-on interview mic, which sorta explains why it doesn't sound amazing. Better than nothing though, hope you enjoy this!

ROBOTIC EMPIRE - Online Store Updates (new shirts, limited vinyl, cassettes, CDs and... other stuff)

It's been a couple of weeks since the release of the CANNABIS CORPSE Tube Of The Resinated 12" but the response has been pretty awesome! Thanks to everyone who's ordered, and we still have copies available in the Robotic Empire Online Store for those who missed it. In related celebration of its release, we re-printed CANNABIS CORPSE's first t-shirt design, aptly titled "Skullbong". Yep, it's a crucial image of a bong made out of a gnarly skull, with generally evil shit surrounding it. We made these in Youth Large all the way through Double Extra Large... those and all other CANNABIS CORPSE items can be found here.

Another batch of t-shirts we've printed up are for CAPSULE, who recently got home from a massive full-US tour with FURNACE. They blew through their band copies of these shirts at last weekend's Dude Fest, so the Robotic Empire Online Store is the best place to pick up CAPSULE shirts for now. To make up for not getting our shit together to make another Robotic Empire Limited T-Shirt Series shirt for this month, we decided to tye-die some of the supersoft, grey CAPSULE shirts instead. The results are varied but all-in-all these turned out pretty badass, and are available on one of the most comfortable shirts out there. All CAPSULE items we carry can be found here.

On the distro end, we've got some solid stoner jams from new Belgian label Electric Earth (who just had a baby boy and named him Thor, which rules!). Aside from that, their releases are top notch in quality so check them out. After literally begging and pleading, we finally got the HELMS ALEE 1-sided 12" from Rome Plow and this thing is incredible. It's got a burly etching on the B-side and every element of it has some hand-screened artwork (including the poly bag)! This preludes the impressive Night Terror album we are releasing for HELMS ALEE later this year. Hydra Head's doing the CD, we're doing the vinyl and this band is former folk from HARKONEN, who we always felt were totally underappreciated. Oto Records in Japan released an OFF MINOR / KILLIE split 2xCD that comes in an amazing die-cut rectangular box with CDs side by side. Seriously insane packaging. Lots of new/re-stocked cassette tapes, some impressive new releases from our bros at Cavity Records (NORTH, PAULSON), limited imported vinyl, and a few other badass releases for this update:

Robotic Empire - Online Store

CANNABIS CORPSE "Tube of the Resinated" vinyl out now! + MASSSIVE Robotic Empire Online Store updates!

Just now realizing we missed our 4/20 release date and many (forgotten) months in the making, the second album from Richmond, Virginia's CANNABIS CORPSE is finally available on vinyl! Tube Of The Resinated sees the band (comprised of members of MUNICIPAL WASTE, BATTLEMASTER and PARASYTIC) upping the ante on their relentless, weed-inspired death metal mayhem. The songwriting is better, the production has moved well beyond the 8-track, and overall this album is about as "professional" as a stoner band can get. To complement appropriately, Robotic Empire has done our best to match the band's hard work with substantial packaging for this LP and are honestly stoked with the results. This is now available in the Robotic Empire Online Store.

The full color sleeve is accompanied by an oversized 36" x 12" double-sided full-color poster insert. The artwork for this is over the top: the cover painting is highlighted by evil shamans summoning an unholy portal from the human-body-parts-filled-bong altar. Seriously. The double-sided poster insert has 3 panels of incredible intricacy, where the infamous bud monster's alien world is finally revealed in engrossing detail. The actual vinyl features the craziest shit we've pulled off to date, including a lazer-cut weed leaf that was custom made and inserted into the vinyl itself. The results were a bit trippier than we'd hoped for, but you can still more-or-less tell what's going on:

This is the lazer-cut pot leaf (left) and the effect after insertion into the vinyl (right). Looks kinda wild so we're calling it TRIPBUD colored vinyl. Here's all the colors we made (stupid names included) and pressing info:

* 200 on CHRONIC
* 200 on DANK HAZE
* 200 on HEADY RUSH
* 300 on TRIPBUD
* 1100 on BLACK

Accordingly, we've re-printed the CANNABIS CORPSE "Bud Monsters" [aka "Couch Buds"] T-Shirts. This also contains art by Barf Callahan, with 2 bud monsters rolling joints out of human beings. A variety of sizes are available: Youth Large ----> Double Extra Large. These and the CANNABIS CORPSE albums are now available in the Robotic Empire Online Store.

Along with the CANNABIS CORPSE t-shirts, we also re-printed the bulk of the PG.99 t-shirts we carry in most sizes, and have some badass new shirts coming soon from CAPSULE as well.

TORCHE's acclaimed In Return 10"+CD release has recently seen its third pressing, and this time around we decided to let the band members themselves each pick a vinyl color. The other 2 colors were picked by the label, including probably the coolest "planets" variation so far, which kinda looks like a flower. The results turned out pretty sweet overall, and just in time for the band's marathon run of summer touring. Fresh off the road with THE SWORD, they head out again in 2 weeks with BORIS. Tour dates can be found here and for everyone patiently (or impatiently) waiting for Meanderthal on vinyl, we just got word from Hydra Head that all the printwork is now done and assembly will commence over the next couple of weeks. We are doing everything we can to get this release to the band in time for the BORIS tour, and will post another update when this is finally finished and actually available to order. The packaging on this is going to trump everything we've released to date. In the meantime, here's the latest pressing info for this 3rd press of In Return, which is available now in the Robotic Empire Online Store.

* 400 on RED / BLUE [color picked by Steve]
* 400 on MINT SWIRL [color picked by Rick]
* 400 on CREAMSICLE [color picked by Juan]
* 400 on WINE (opaque purple / translucent purple w/ purple splatter)
* 200 on "ORCHID" (clear w/ splatters) [color picked by Jonathan]
* 200 on "FLOWER PETALS" (translucent yellow with metallic gold "planet" inserts)

Beyond all this Robotic Empire related stuff, we also have a truly massive amount of new items and restocks that we've recently obtained for the Robotic Empire Online Store since the last update. Highlights include the long-awaited BARONESS / UNPERSONS split LP, new NACHTMYSTIUM LP, BLACK COBRA CDs and LPs, the old DAYBREAK / GODSTOMPER split LP, SLEEP vinyl, the "Turn Daryl Up" benefit DVD (with quality live stuff from TORCHE, DOVE, LIGHTNING BOLT, YOUNG WIDOWS and more), plus some rare imports, old releases and limited colored vinyl. In addition, we now also carry motherfuckin' SOAP, courtesy of the robo-extended-family ZEEP SOAP company. Lindsay has been working for the label/online store for a while now but has this killer upstart going on the side. We definitely back this soap as its all natural, works incredibly, smells better than any store-bought mass-produced nonsense and is genuinely a good-quality product. We stocked up on 4 different kinds of soap and highly recommend you check them out. Enough salesmanship, check out this badass list of stuff for yourself...

CANNABIS CORPSE announce live dates, vinyl LP updates!!

In celebration of the release of CANNABIS CORPSE's sophomore effort "Tube of the Resinated", the Richmond-based death metal outfit is excited to announce two live appearances:

Tuesday, June 3rd - Richmond, VA @ The Bike Lot - w/ Phobia, Magrudergrind, Skarp and Juice Tyme

Saturday, August 16th - Richmond, VA @ Hadad's (Best Friends Day) - w/ Ultra Dolphins, Brainworms, Direct Control, Apeshit

The June 3rd show will be the formal record release show for "Tube of the Resinated", which is now available on CD from Forcefield Records. The vinyl edition will finally be available June 5th from Robotic Empire and features a never-before-made variation of vinyl, with a laser-etched pot leaf image inserted directly into the vinyl. Photos of this ridiculousness can be seen here:

Pirates Press - Record Of The Week!

Pirates Press, the manufacturer who pressed "Tube of the Reisnated" had the following to say: "NOBODY HAS EVER SEEN OR MADE A RECORD LIKE THIS... a stellar all around package... four different colors of vinyl to choose from [and] the stoney-ist poster/insert we've ever printed".

Everyone involved with this project is very excited about the results and cannot wait to unleash this upon the world. Appropriately, an additional preview track from the album titled "Every Bud Smoken" was recently posted on the band's myspace page:

VERSE EN COMA "Rialto" Release Date Set, New Track Posted

Somewhere between the present day and unfortunate endings of PG.99, CITY OF CATERPILLAR and MALADY, a "lost" recording was created but shelved for several years. Five dynamic tracks that collided with both artistic and industry red tape comprise the VERSE EN COMA debut release, "Rialto". Finally though the dust has settled, the hurdles have all been jumped and "Rialto" will finally see the light of day as a dual-format 10"+CD release through Robotic Empire.

VERSE EN COMA was formed by the songwriting backbone of MALADY (Jeff Kane, Kevin Longendyke, Jonathan Moore) and joined by DARKEST HOUR/CITY OF CATERPILLAR drummer (Ryan Parrish) and multi-talented vocalist Brian Markham. Most of the songs were written towards the end of MALADY but re-vamped and enhanced with the joining of Parrish and Markham to the group. The results are an impressive and varied recording, which was engineered and executed by the band themselves over a several-year period.

A newly mastered track from "Rialto" can now be heard online through the band's myspace page:

http://www.myspace.com/VerseEnComa

Addressing the delays, quote Moore: "I can't wait for it to come out. Thanks for all your patience and I hope we turn a few heads with this one."

Although there will not be pre-orders for this release, the VERSE EN COMA's debut 10"+CD "Rialto" will be available August 12th, 2008.

New TORCHE t-shirt, limited edition Robotic Empire shirt, colored vinyl and more!

The third installment of our Robotic Empire Limited T-Shirt Series is now available and we're pretty stoked on how this one tuned out. Like the others before it, this comes on an American Apparel brand shirt so its hella comfortable, and also like the others before it, is limited to a one-time run of 50 shirts and features 2 colors of ink. Black and grey are found on this dark "ash" grey t-shirt with woodcut artwork of an old man (probably a wizard) playing a harp in a blacksmith shop or something. Metalheads take note: this two color t-shirt is fairly gloomy, and majorly grim. A somewhat larger photo of this can be seen here. These look killer in person, and the photos don’t really do this justice!

Long story short, we're pumped on how this shirt turned out and still have some of the previous ones available as well. You can check out all available shirts from this limited series in our Online Store here: Robotic Empire - Limited T-Shirt Series.

While on the subject of clothing, we also re-printed a sweet TORCHE t-shirt that was originally printed as a pre-order only edition when In Return first came out. This John Baizley designed shirt was only available online for a week or so, and the band then printed a run for tour... but now that Meanderthal is out (on CD), they stopped printing these in favor of new designs. We also used the same printer the band prefers down in south Florida so the print is large and the quality of this is top notch! These can be found in our Online Store here: TORCHE - "Flies" T-Shirt.

For everyone wondering, both the CANNABIS CORPSE and TORCHE vinyl are still in production... but we hope to have Tube of the Resinated in by the end of the month, with Meanderthal hopefully following shortly. New posts will be made when these are ready as there aren't going to be pre-orders. However, in the meantime we've also obtained a small amount of new items and re-stocks for the Robotic Empire Online Store over the past week or so, including the last available copies of the killer NADJA + 5/5/2000 split LP+CD on Accident Prone, some PELICAN 10"s and the impressive RINGFINGER debut... amongst other stuff.

Robotic Empire - Online Store

ROBOTIC EMPIRE - Online Store Updates (new shirts, limited vinyl, cassettes, CDs and.. sweatpants?!)

Hello again, we have a fairly sizeable Robotic Empire Online Store update for you here... including new limited vinyl, cassettes, CDs and garments galore! As previously mentioned, we have a limited t-shirt series going on for what we hope will be the rest of the year (a new design each month) and in April we have the new "logoswirl" design. We probably should've called it "robotrippin"... but we're not quite that clever. Here's a mockup of this design:

What's cool about this one is that every single shirt is completely unique, as they were made on these super-comfortable American Apparel "acid wash" brand t-shirts... and we had our guys at Mammoth Printshop do some hands-on swirly stuff with the ink as well. So yeah, each one is a one-of-a-kind and this design is limited to a 1-time press of just 50 shirts. Insanely comfortable too, we're really, really pumped on how this one turned out.

To continue the ridiculous Robowardrobe, we've thrown all unclaimed "Blackmetal Sabbath" sweatpants up on our site, which we only made 20 of. This was a promotional item we made for the re-launch of our webstore a couple months back and for whatever reasons a few pair went unclaimed. This is the first (and probably last) chance to stock up on sweet Robo-sweatpants, as we probably won't remake these either.

Beyond all that nonsense, we've also got a whole mess of awesome new music in this month, including some killer import releases from Hypertension, a pile of No Idea stuff (including re-stocks), and some crazy cult/underground brutality from Abort The World down in Miami. CANNABIS CORPSE post new song from Tube of the Resinated

Richmond, Virginia's weedian heathens CANNABIS CORPSE have posted the first public sampling of their new and true death metal album, Tube of the Resinated. The new track "Mummified in Bongwater" has been posted on the band's myspace page:

http://www.myspace.com/CannabisCorpseVA

This bong-blastin' bludgeoner is the second of nine songs that comprise Tube of the Resinated, appropriately due out April 20th on Forcefield Records (CD) and Robotic Empire (vinyl). Do not listen if you anticipate any drug-testing in the next month, as this stoney tune will give you a contact high of sizzling brutality.
