GODS & QUEENS finish debut album, post first preview track

The Brooklyn/Philadelphia trio GODS & QUEENS have finished their debut album and the first preview track has been posted online here:

The untitled seven-song album was recorded by Jason LaFarge at Seizures Palace and mastered by Nick Zampiello at New Alliance East. This will see an October 14th street date as a 12"+CD (both formats together) released by Robotic Empire in North America and Adagio830 in Europe. A cassette version will also be available from Dead Format Cassettes, and digital downloads will be available on iTunes, etc.

JESU / BATTLE OF MICE split 12"/CD & VERSE EN COMA 10"+CD both out now!

Several years in the making, the long-awaited JESU / BATTLE OF MICE split is finally available! Even though it took a while, we're beyond stoked to be the ones releasing this, and each band contributes two exclusive, lengthy tracks on this limited edition release. JESU showcases "Clear Stream" and "Falling From Grace", two pieces towards the darker end of the spectrum created under the JESU moniker. BATTLE OF MICE deliver the two most sinister songs they've recorded, "The Bishop" and "Yellow & Black". Along with the vocally infamous Julie Christmas, here lies the vocal debut of Josh Graham, which preludes his work in A STORM OF LIGHT and fits as an appropriate segue. Heavier than the material found on their A Day Of Nights debut yet more dynamic overall, these two final (?) tracks from BATTLE OF MICE compliment the JESU material well. While both bands utilize traditional "heavy" music instruments, they are also unified by usage of keys, atmospherics, and general unique elements thrown in to vary it all.

We pressed these as both vinyl and CD releases, separate for a change. Each format is limited to a one-time pressing of 2000 copies. The CD comes house in a mini-gatefold jacket that mimics the larger LP gatefold jacket well. This vinyl is all colored to some degree, broken down in the following quantities:

* 500 copies on semi-translucent SILVER (silver mixed with clear)
* 500 copies on BLACK with 1/4th SILVER SPLATTER
* 500 copies on CLEAR/BLACK mix (mostly looks black until you hold it up to the light)
* 500 copies on ORANGE/CLEAR mix

These can be found now in the Robotic Empire - Online Store, and should start showing up in stores and distros this week as well.


Also finally available after many years in the making is the VERSE EN COMA debut 10"+CD, Rialto! Somewhere between the present day and unfortunate endings of CITY OF CATERPILLAR, PG.99 and MALADY, a "lost" recording was created but shelved for several years. Five dynamic tracks that collided with both artistic and industry red tape comprise the incredible VERSE EN COMA debut, Rialto. These delays hinder absolutely nothing though, as the power and sheer intensity behind these songs is borderline overwhelming. Unique, passionate and soaring vocals compliment the effects-laden screaming guitarwork and air-tight rhythm section. Coupled with distinctive song-structure and 5+ minute tracks, VERSE EN COMA's debut is a downright substantial EP. Both digital CD and analog vinyl formats are coupled together in a gatefold jacket to add to the weight of this release. The pressing info for this one is as follows:

* 700 copies on BLACK
* 200 copies on TAN
* 100 copies on WHITE w/ BLUE STREAKS

In addition to these two new releases, we've had a fairly massive influx of KILLER new items and restocks in our Online Store. One main item to point out is the HELMS ALEE "self titled" demo on CD, which is a limited prelude to their debut Night Terror album we'll be releasing on wax in the near future. Other key stuff we've stocked are new vinyl and cassette releases from Richmond's BRAINWORMS, both THOU full-lengths on CD, new CEREMONY CD, and the incredible new PYGMY LUSH, COFFINS and BORIS albums on vinyl.

In the surprising "blast from the past" category, the long-awaited (but minimally packaged) PORTRAITS OF PAST discography CD is finally here. We also scored some ancient CREATION IS CRUCIFIXION 7"s, the insanely elaborate old Deadly Sins 4x7" comp box set with DAMAD, CATHARSIS, RUINATION, UNRUH (and more), and the old ENEMY SOIL Live at Fiesta Grande flexi 7"! We have it pretty clear on our site to allow roughly 3-4 weeks for your order to arrive, but it seems like a lot of folks get antsy and can't wait that long. Not a massive update this time around as we're still waiting for our TORCHE - Meanderthal LPs to arrive for true chaos to begin. In the meantime though, the band passed through town last week and dropped off a few tour-only t-shirts for us to sell. HELMS ALEE - Night Terror 12"
Hoping to have this one available on August 12th as well but we'll see if we meet our distributor's deadline of July 30th or not. Fingers crossed! If not, this won't be available for an additional few weeks but will be worth it either way. Two album tracks have *just* been posted, and a couple others from the demo (found here) have been re-recorded for the album. Killer debut album overall, CD version on Hydra Head available August 5th too.

TORCHE - Meanderthal 12"
We are still waiting for our copies of this to be assembled and are at the mercy of those assembling this beast. Some stores and online distros may have these available before we do, but we will have them for sale ourselves the very day they arrive here. In the meantime the band (on tour with BORIS) is the best place to get this release on vinyl for now. The CD version is currently available from Hydra Head.

VERSE EN COMA - Rialto 10"+CD (both formats together)
This is done and turned out awesome. We will have these available for sale on or around August 12th. A second track has just been posted on the band's myspace page. Check it out!

ISIS - Live IV 2x12" OUT NOW! Plus new additions, restock and updates...

OK folks here it is, the long-awaited, much-anticipated Live IV 2x12" release from ISIS. A variety of live recordings over four years (2001-2005) encompass the seven tracks contained within these two LPs, which are housed in a custom made hand-cranked letterpress gatefold jacket. We had the same fellow who made all the letterpress jackets for their four live CDs to date (Michael Babcock @ Interrobang Letterpress) work his magic on this jacket and the results are beautiful. This release is especially important to me personally, as recordings from the first time I got to see ISIS live are on this release. The recordings on this are different for each location, but overall the flow and quality are excellent for varied live recordings upwards of 7 years old now. The band will have copies at upcoming live dates (and some through their webstore) but other than that, the Robotic Empire Online Store is the only place this release is available. We decided not to sell this one through other stores or distros due to its limited nature, and are limiting each color to one per customer. This is not a pre-order (as we have our copies in-house), but we will not begin shipping these out of here for at least two weeks due to being generally backed-up on current orders. Please be patient, as REPEAT: the ISIS Live IV 2x12"s will not begin shipping until mid/late July. This includes any items you may order along with this release, which will all ship together. To everyone who's patiently (or impatiently) waiting for us to sell the TORCHE Meanderthal vinyl, we are still waiting on our copies, so the band on the road with BORIS is currently the best place to get it for now. HISSING CHOIR - 3 live songs (first show)

Just unearthed an old minidisc recording of the first HISSING CHOIR show. Thought some people might want to hear this:

This is a (rough) recording of the first ever HISSING CHOIR show. They were a short lived (but never truly "broken up") band comprised of members of PG99, CRESTFALLEN, PIG DESTROYER and TRIAC... essentially trying their hardest to sound like SWANS but still being fairly unique. These are three songs from their first show, so it's sorta rough around the edges, but still pretty intense for a FIRST SHOW. Not sure if these guys will ever actually release anything so I decided to finally upload this. I think the mic got dropped during the first song while I handed Mike a beer bottle to use as a slide, that may explain the partial dropout about halfway in the first song there. Not positive, but I think the show was sometime in October of 2003 at the Talking Head in Baltimore, MD (it may have still been the "old" Ottobar back then?). It was recorded with a cheapo Sharp brand MD-MT15 portable minidisc recorder and a tiny clip-on interview mic, which sorta explains why it doesn't sound amazing. Better than nothing though, hope you enjoy this!

ROBOTIC EMPIRE - Online Store Updates (new shirts, limited vinyl, cassettes, CDs and... other stuff)

It's been a couple of weeks since the release of the CANNABIS CORPSE Tube Of The Resinated 12" but the response has been pretty awesome! Thanks to everyone who's ordered, and we still have copies available in the Robotic Empire Online Store for those who missed it. In related celebration of its release, we re-printed CANNABIS CORPSE's first t-shirt design, aptly titled "Skullbong". Yep, it's a crucial image of a bong made out of a gnarly skull, with generally evil shit surrounding it. We made these in Youth Large all the way through Double Extra Large... those and all other CANNABIS CORPSE items can be found here.

Another batch of t-shirts we've printed up are for CAPSULE, who recently got home from a massive full-US tour with FURNACE. They blew through their band copies of these shirts at last weekend's Dude Fest, so the Robotic Empire Online Store is the best place to pick up CAPSULE shirts for now. To make up for not getting our shit together to make another Robotic Empire Limited T-Shirt Series shirt for this month, we decided to tye-die some of the supersoft, grey CAPSULE shirts instead. The results are varied but all-in-all these turned out pretty badass, and are available on one of the most comfortable shirts out there. All CAPSULE items we carry can be found here.

On the distro end, we've got some solid stoner jams from new Belgian label Electric Earth (who just had a baby boy and named him Thor, which rules!). Aside from that, their releases are top notch in quality so check them out. After literally begging and pleading, we finally got the HELMS ALEE 1-sided 12" from Rome Plow and this thing is incredible. It's got a burly etching on the B-side and every element of it has some hand-screened artwork (including the poly bag)! This preludes the impressive Night Terror album we are releasing for HELMS ALEE later this year. Hydra Head's doing the CD, we're doing the vinyl and this band is former folk from HARKONEN, who we always felt were totally underappreciated. Oto Records in Japan released an OFF MINOR / KILLIE split 2xCD that comes in an amazing die-cut rectangular box with CDs side by side. Seriously insane packaging. CANNABIS CORPSE "Tube of the Resinated" vinyl out now! + MASSSIVE Robotic Empire Online Store updates!

Just now realizing we missed our 4/20 release date and many (forgotten) months in the making, the second album from Richmond, Virginia's CANNABIS CORPSE is finally available on vinyl! Tube Of The Resinated sees the band (comprised of members of MUNICIPAL WASTE, BATTLEMASTER and PARASYTIC) upping the ante on their relentless, weed-inspired death metal mayhem. The songwriting is better, the production has moved well beyond the 8-track, and overall this album is about as "professional" as a stoner band can get. To complement appropriately, Robotic Empire has done our best to match the band's hard work with substantial packaging for this LP and are honestly stoked with the results. This is now available in the Robotic Empire Online Store.

The full color sleeve is accompanied by an oversized 36" x 12" double-sided full-color poster insert. The artwork for this is over the top: the cover painting is highlighted by evil shamans summoning an unholy portal from the human-body-parts-filled-bong altar. Seriously. The double-sided poster insert has 3 panels of incredible intricacy, where the infamous bud monster's alien world is finally revealed in engrossing detail. The actual vinyl features the craziest shit we've pulled off to date, including a lazer-cut weed leaf that was custom made and inserted into the vinyl itself. The results were a bit trippier than we'd hoped for, but you can still more-or-less tell what's going on:

Accordingly, we've re-printed the CANNABIS CORPSE "Bud Monsters" [aka "Couch Buds"] T-Shirts. This also contains art by Barf Callahan, with 2 bud monsters rolling joints out of human beings. A variety of sizes are available: Youth Large ----> Double Extra Large. These and the CANNABIS CORPSE albums are now available in the Robotic Empire Online Store.

Along with the CANNABIS CORPSE t-shirts, we also re-printed the bulk of the PG.99 t-shirts we carry in most sizes, and have some badass new shirts coming soon from CAPSULE as well.


TORCHE's acclaimed In Return 10"+CD release has recently seen its third pressing, and this time around we decided to let the band members themselves each pick a vinyl color. The other 2 colors were picked by the label, including probably the coolest "planets" variation so far, which kinda looks like a flower. The results turned out pretty sweet overall, and just in time for the band's marathon run of summer touring. Fresh off the road with THE SWORD, they head out again in 2 weeks with BORIS. Tour dates can be found here and for everyone patiently (or impatiently) waiting for Meanderthal on vinyl, we just got word from Hydra Head that all the printwork is now done and assembly will commence over the next couple of weeks. We are doing everything we can to get this release to the band in time for the BORIS tour, and will post another update when this is finally finished and actually available to order. The packaging on this is going to trump everything we've released to date.
