Hella FLOOR merch (4 shirts, etc!) + rare import RESTOCKS and rad NEW ITEMS

Its still amazing to us that FLOOR has resurrected and is an active force again, currently on tour blazing eardrums across the USA! This is no small wonder, but still something to behold.

In celebration, we recently re-pressed the 8xCD version of their massive Below & Beyond discography... and this update we're pleased to announce that four(!) t-shirt designs are now available along with a kickass 8x button set.

One downside though is that due to our small HQ, we're a bit overwhelmed with sheer STUFF at the moment... so we've conjured up a "FLOORCOMBO" discount code to knock off $10 if you order the Below & Beyond discography plus a FLOOR t-shirt...AND we'll include a free 8x button set too if you bust the "FLOORCOMBO". Hella FLOOR jawns together for a nice price, just enter the "FLOORCOMBO" coupon code thing when you're checking out in our Online Store. This will run for the next 2 weeks.

That is easily the biggest news in our camp at the moment (following a large update about a month ago), but we've also taken the time to stock some killer new items and restocks to the Robotic Empire - Online Store as well.

The big restock news is finally scoring the long unavailable back catalog stuff from A Date With Elvis, aka the now-defunct Spanish label that issued the vinyl for PIG DESTROYER's Painter of Dead Girls 12", CRESTFALLEN's final 7" and TRANSISTOR TRANSISTOR's Erase All Names And Likeness 2x12". All very hard to get and/or WAY unavailable for ages now, we are likely the only place to stock any of this stuff as it was a major mission to get. Very hyped to have that stuff in stock again after many years, and once its gone... that's really it!

Along with that we've also got restocks from heavyweights such as BARONESS, DOOMRIDERS, MADE OUT OF BABIES, MAJORITY RULE, MASTODON, TWDY and more.

New stuff includes the debut BEE CONTROL 7" (already sold out from Adagio) plus the new CROWSKIN / BLACK FREIGHTER split and GODS & QUEENS "acoustic" tape all imported from our German brothers, plus lots of double LPs this time: new KYLESA 2xLP on color wax, LIGHT BEARER blisstality, ROSETTA's new one finally on vinyl, SALOME's newest(/final?) album, plus more quality NADJA tunes from their ever-expanding arsenal of a discography, a couple awesome Skin Balms (!!) from Zeep (seriously great for all you tattoo'd freex) and more. Chekk it:

FLOOR touring for first time in over eight years

Floridian heavy trio FLOOR are about to embark on their first proper tour in over eight years. Since disbanding, FLOOR's overdue notoriety has slowly grown, due in part from laying the foundation for guitar player/vocalist Steve Brooks' non-stop activity in TORCHE.

Reuniting to celebrate the release of their massive Below & Beyond discography/box set, FLOOR returned for a few key shows over the past year to an overwhelmingly positive response. As a result, the band is now hitting the road for the first time since 2003. In regards to the tour, Brooks had the following to say:

"It's a celebration. Celebrating our 19 years together, apart, back together, apart and back together again! Dropping bombs like it's Floorld War III!"

New PYGMY LUSH releases & merch galore, FLOOR repress and LOTS of new items & restocks!!

Its crazy to think we're rounding the bend on TWELVE years of Robo-label activity, but our first release (the PG.99 / REACTOR NO. 7 split 7") dropped in April of 1999. It suffices to say, this label wouldn't even exist if it weren't for the Taylor brothers, their friends, and all the bands they've been a part of over the years. There's something in the water in Sterling, Virginia and we feel genuinely honored to have been a small element of these dudes' musical output over the (many) years.

Now that their current/most active band PYGMY LUSH is thankfully touring again, we decided to help stack out our old friends' merch table with a plethora of goods to peddle. As a result we now have the same items available in our Online Store, although we officially and fully encourage you to pick up stuff direct from the band on tour with DES ARK whenever possible.

The goods we've stocked them with this time include a re-press of their first album, Bitter River, on cassette along with two more tapes: the fantastic split with TURBOSLUT (originally released on LP by Exotic Fever) and a new two-song "cassingle" on Cold World / Guilt, two super mellow cuts that didn't quite fit on their new album Old Friends (released on Lovitt, who's also issuing a 2-song 7" of the cassingle songs). Soul-crushingly good tunes here.

Along with all that, they/we've got stickers, oversized buttons (1.5"), patches galore and a plethora of t-shirts both new and old. We're trying out bundle packs for the first time too, so you can either get the individual tapes separately, all together and we'll throw in a sizable pile of merch (buttons+patch+sticker), or you can just grab a merch bundle on its own. Three new t-shirts were printed too, the "Cold World" image expanded, plus white and black versions of the "Mount Hope" Ashburn House album design. We kinda went bonkers here, but it is a pretty lengthy tour too! If you're not gonna see them, or foolishly spend all your cash on booze or something, check out the Robotic Empire - Online Store to pick up some of this awesome stuff.

Another band we're EXTREMELY happy to announce is hitting the road is FLOOR!! Inspired by their reunion shows last year, the reignited trio is legitimately touring for the first time in like 9 years or so! Intense!!

In order to make sure they've got substantial music to sell (and since we're getting down to the last copies of the deluxe vinyl box set discography), we re-pressed the 8xCD standalone edition of their expansive Below & Beyond discography! Ideally you'll pick this up direct from the band on tour, but if not you can grab it now in the Robotic Empire - Online Store. This mamma jamma includes all 99(!) songs spread across 8 discs and includes the massive 32-page 12"x12" booklet with hella photos, lyrics, back-story....everything. We just re-upped on the awesome Sight & Seen FLOOR 2xDVD too! Czech it out in the Robotic Empire - Online Store if you can't catch them live.

In further "touring band news", MAGRUDERGRIND is playing shows in various parts of the world this year, and they just sent us a stack of their FREE Crusher 10" released by Scion(WTF). Yep, debate it any way ya want... regardless, we're giving away copies of this appropriately monikered EP to folks who order the new "Facemelter" t-shirt we printed up last month. Totally badass 4-color design with all kinda trippy junx going on, this is available now in the Robotic Empire - Online Store. FREE 10" included until we run out of em.... word!

We also have a pretty stacked distro update with over 30 new items and 50+ restocks. New stuff from AKIMBO (latest album finally imported on vinyl, with CD), AMATEUR PARTY (featuring Atom!), HEIRS new one along with other Denovali elaborateness, INTEGRITY and other A389 bludgeoners, PYGMY LUSH GALORE, SINE NOMINE back from the grave with a self released CD, Init stuff and more.

Restocks include the bulk of the remaining Shock Value catalog (ED GEIN, JOSHUA FIT FOR BATTLE, etc), BLACK TUSK and COUGH bangers from Relapse (vinyl for both blew out last time), CELESTE 2xLPs and other awesome imports, FLOOR essentials, DAITRO 10"s, KIDCRASH, MELT BANANA and other killer Init releases, mo' bruisers from A389, two favorite PG99 and PYGMYLUSH shirts re-printed, ROSETTA, PULLING TEETH, TOWERS, ULTRA DOLPHINS and a bunch more! We printed up some nicer Bitter River tapes compaired to the first press, plus the killer split with TURBOSLUT on cassette as well... and as of South Carolina they should have a NEW 2-song cassingle as well that is totally soul crushingly good.

We'll have all that junx and more from these dudes in our Online Store before too long, but if you're anywhere even remotely near any of the dates above: GO SEE EM LIVE with DES ARK and pick up something from them direct. Witness one of our favorite active bands going right now, and if possible please help fill our bro's tank, as gas prices are through the roof and that makes DIY-touring even harder than it already is.

Also, you can scope a new song here:

They're releasing their new album "Old Friends" on Lovitt Records pretty soon, and have the CD of it available with them on tour. Now that they're on the road though, any updates will be less frequent for the time being. But you can still keep an eye on what's what here:

February 25, 2011

FOUR new releases (ISIS, RED SPAROWES, WINDMILLS BY THE OCEAN), MANY new t-shirts (MAGRUDERGRIND, COUGH, etc) and a MASSIVE distro update (200+ items!

Over the past seven years we've released a lot of records involving Bryant Clifford Meyer. To get specific: over a dozen (TWO dozen if counting box sets). First within ISIS, then RED SPAROWES and finally WINDMILLS BY THE OCEAN, we've been lucky to be a part of the bulk of BCM's massive catalog of awesome tunes. So many good songs flow from this dude and his kin that we're thrilled to announce today FOUR new releases and re-presses involving ol' comrade Cliff. And now in reverse-chronological order of original release, here are many circular objects that our old friend (amongst others) is newly spread across...

Several years in the making, WINDMILLS BY THE OCEAN thankfully return from obscurity to deliver an unexpected and stunning second album. Awash in waves of droney guitars, lush melodies and a vastly increased use of vocals (which were almost non-existent on the debut), WINDMILLS BY THE OCEAN have created a truly hypnotic sophomore album. Reaching far beyond the limits of "post-rock", these five varied tracks shift through the spectrum of being haunting, triumphant, captivating, oppressive and completely uplifting. Its a real "listening experience" that is rare to find at this caliber, expertly crafted by an array of musicians seasoned by years spent in ISIS, RED SPAROWES, 27, BLACKTAIL and more.

MORE INFO:
* We pressed 1000 of this: 600 on black, 200 of "pagan sun" (maroon/black mishmash) and 200 of "windmill" (grey/silver quad jawns) - check out a bigger image of the spread
* Preview the track "Pagan Sun" on WINDMILLS BY THE OCEAN's Facebook and/or SoundCloud pages
* This is a seriously awesome surprise 2nd album, and a 3rd one is actually in the works...!
* Available now in the Robotic Empire - Online Store

Los Angeles' RED SPAROWES bypass the fabled sophomore slump by leaps and bounds on their second album, Every Red Heart Shines Toward the Red Sun, and after being sold out for a few years, this impressive 2xLP is finally available again! There is a definitively darker approach on this album, and the reference points of the past are less apparent, yet the band evokes intense emotions with more variety and depth than ever before. Powerful and dynamic, Every Red Heart displays RED SPAROWES within a captivating new path in the ever-evolving world of instrumental music. Comes in a beautiful gatefold jacket and is pressed on complimentary color vinyl.

MORE INFO:
* We pressed 1000 more for this 3rd pressing: 500 on "red heart" (super vivid semi-translucent red) and 500 on "red sun" (red/orangey/yellow blend) - check out a bigger image of the spread
* Preview tracks from Every Red Heart Shines Toward the Red Sun at RED SPAROWES bandcamp page
* Available now in the Robotic Empire - Online Store

First released back in 2005, we're pretty hyped to have RED SPAROWES' first album At The Soundless Dawn back in print after being sold out for years now. An undeniably massive album with an unconventional approach to creating instrumental aural landscapes. Dropping generous hints to shoegaze's glorious past, RED SPAROWES debut subtly employs reverberating guitars to explore darker passages that flow more like orchestral movements than modern rock songs. A fantastic debut album, this 2xLP comes housed in a gatefold jacket and is finally available again!

MORE INFO:
* We pressed 1000 more for this 4th pressing: 500 on "swamp" and 500 on "forest" - check out a bigger image of the spread
* Preview tracks from At The Soundless Dawn at RED SPAROWES bandcamp page
* Available now in the Robotic Empire - Online Store

Last (and certainly not least) in this massive Bryant Clifford Meyer-related-update is the quick repress of ISIS' recent Oceanic 2xLP reissue we just dropped. The entire pressing blew out in roughly a month so we chose to go ahead and fill the remaining 200 "tip on" gatefold jackets with a brief run of clear vinyl. This is likely to be the last of these for a little while, so nab one while you can. For those few unfamiliar with this band and/or album, we wrote a helluva lot about it last month when this came out, so please check out the Robotic Empire news blog there for full details.

MORE INFO:
* We ordered 200 more to fill out the remaining gatefold jackets, but a little overrun happened so there is also some available on the cheap as just vinyl-only (no fancy gatefold jackets)
* Be sure to check out the "Oceanic Japan" t-shirt we resurrected in correlation to this too (image here)
* Vinyl and t-shirts available now in the Robotic Empire - Online Store

PHEW! Wow, thank you Cliff for all the music and for whatever comes next! Incredibly though, this isn't even all of the label activity as we've got more on deck as well...

This outrageous 4-color MAGRUDERGRIND shirt design took literally years to finish, but we're stoked to finally have this bad mamma jamma finished! The photos can't seem to do this one justice (it looks awesome in person) and the original image for this wasn't quite as intricate, so many hours were spent adding further detail to incorporate full usage of all 4 colors on this beastly t-shirt! MAGRUDERGRIND are one of the most brutal grind bands around, but also thankfully not afraid to stray from the path. This shirt is an accurate representation of that, with a classic skull image (including melting face partially still intact) joined by psychedelia, a beating heart, flowers and gnarly maggots. A perfect smattering of elements for one of our favorite heavy/fast bands going right now. Printed on super comfy brown Alstyle brand shirts (both sweatshop free & akin to American Apparel texturally), this one has been a long time coming and turned out awesome! Available now in the Robotic Empire - Online Store.

Affiliated in regional heathenism are the badass COUGH t-shirts we recently stocked direct from the band. Although this isn't exactly Robo-related, we did hustle them to print up these shirts... and since they actually made them themselves in maximum DIYness, we stocked up on THREE different designs. COUGH have been playing some awesome slow n' heavy evil music for years now, and we're psyched that our RVA bros are finally getting some solid attention elsewhere as well. The new shirts feature a Wizard, a Plague and Baphomet w/ PBR and Joints! Dig these killer shirts now in the Robotic Empire - Online Store.

OK last thing before the utterly ENORMOUS distro updates... the recent Ryan McLennan "sequel" Robotic Empire shirt got photographed along with all the other new shirts, and since it turned out awesome we wanted to mention it again as well. This is printed on one of the most comfortable (affordable) t-shirts around, the American Apparel grey tri-blend shirt, which we've printed on before with a very positive response. Actually wearing this new shirt while typing up this big update - feels good! It really is stupidly soft and comfortable, and the badass image of a freakin' moose tearing up a robot bear does us just right! A bigger photo of this rad 3-color shirt can be viewed here and this is available now in the Robotic Empire - Online Store.

Alright, are you ready for this? We've got over 200 (!!) new items and re-stocks this time and its almost impossible to mention all the awesome stuff we've conjured up for this update... but here's an attempt to touch on a few crucial things we've got for ya:

pg.99 to reunite and perform "document #8" in its entirety!

Sterling, Virginia punk rock band pg.99 is returning for a live performance at this summer's Best Friends Day in Richmond, Virginia. Also known as pageninetynine, the influential group is reuniting after an 8 year absence of activity to perform their seminal album "document #8" in its entirety.

Taking place from August 18th to the 21st this year, Best Friends Day is an annual event that started as a single day and has evolved into a weekend-long festival based on taking a break from the stresses of the world to just hang out and have a good time with your friends. When asked why they are reuniting now, pg.99 guitarist Mike Taylor responded with:

"After a few reunion offers in recent months, it kind of just got us thinking that it would be fun to play those songs again, and if we were ever going to do it again, that now would be the time... We felt Richmond would be great place to do a reunion because of pg.99's early involvement with that area and its punk scene in the late nineties."

The Best Friends Day organizers are thrilled to have pageninetynine on the bill celebrating BFD's 10th year as an event, and are announcing them as the first band confirmed for the weekend: "When we initially started planning Best Friends Day 10, we wanted to have a killer band that could share this milestone year with us, and nothing hits home better than one of Virginia's best DIY bands ever," says organizer Curtis Grimstead. "I couldn't be more excited about having pg.99 reunite for Best Friends Day 10."

Formed in 1998, pageninetynine steadily gained notoriety as almost a cult of a band, with upwards of 8 people performing at the peak membership. With a menacing sound combining a wide variety of heavy/punk genres, pageninetynine was renown for their powerful and passionate live performances. In their five years of prolific activity they released 14 records and played over 300 live shows, earning them a formidable reputation and widespread dedicated following.

Since disbanding in 2003 the many members of pg.99 have gone on to form a slew of bands, including but not limited to Pygmy Lush, Ghastly City Sleep, Tideland, Malady and more. While active, the band released albums with Robotic Empire, Reptilian, Electric Human Project, The Perpetual Motion Macine, Magic Bullet, Witching Hour and many others.

New release+shirt from ISIS, repress from CAPSULE and way more!

Now this is a re-ighteous update. We've got a beautiful ISIS re-issue, an overdue CAPSULE re-press, an old ISIS t-shirt re-printed and a rock solid slab of other new re-leases & re-stocks for the Robotic Empire - Online Store. Lets get at it:

Its no secret we're big ISIS fans. Have been, still are, will be. Robotic Empire and ISIS have a lengthy history, but even after releasing four remix LPs, two 2xLP albums, one live 2xLP and a massive commemorative box set together, this release still carries serious weight. After being out of print for years, we're proud to re-issue (our personal favorite) ISIS album, Oceanic, as a fine 2xLP release.

Showcasing a band at the height of a monumental transition, Oceanic was and is hailed by many fans as ISIS' landmark album, simultaneously earning widespread critical acclaim. Raising the massive bridge between crushing metal and atmospheric post-rock, ISIS truly came into their own sound on this brilliant sophomore album. Now housed in a heavyweight "tip-on" style gatefold jacket, Oceanic has been carefully re-mastered and re-cut for optimal sound quality.

We are absolutely thrilled to be reissuing this double LP, even despite the band's somewhat recent breakup. Regardless, this album stands the test of time and we're honored to present it to you today. 2000 copies of this have been pressed up, with the following numbers and colors of vinyl:

* 100 on Seaweed (translucent green w/ black streaks)
* 200 on Gyre (opaque olive)
* 300 on Brine (swamp green/clear swirl)
* 1400 on Black

Although technically a pre-order, this is completely finished and available now in the Robotic Empire - Online Store and will begin shipping the week of January 24th.

Absolutely related to this is the uncovering of an ollld ISIS t-shirt design from their archives. Printed in minimal numbers for a Japanese tour many many moons ago, this Oceanic-specific shirt is finally available again (and stateside). Printed on Alstyle shirts (sweatshop free & akin to American Apparel texturally) with a 20% ink discharge, the minimalism of this print perfectly compliments ISIS' abstinence from convention. In an overflowing sea of huge-print shirts, its nice to see something actually utilizing space as a vital design element. Anyway, blathering aside this boils down to a simple, super cozy shirt from way back when. Nice! This is available now in the Robotic Empire - Online Store.

Completely unrelated but equally awesome is the new re-press of CAPSULE's stellar debut album, Blue. First dropped nearly 3 years ago, this tornado of fury is a powerful combination of grind, screamy hardcore and technical wizardry. A seriously convolutely conglomeration of genres and styles, it actually takes several spins of this monster to truly soak up all the crazy tunage that's going on within. 500 more of this bad mamma jamma were pressed up:

* 100 on Tropical Blue (translucent electric blue/beer mix w/ blue streaks)
* 200 on Primordial Blue (translucent blue w/ amoebas)
* 200 on Ocean Blue (opaque aqua blue/baby blue mix)

This is finally available again after being sold out for quite a while, and the 12" also comes with a CD of the same jams, inserted into the interior of the custom die-cut high-gloss gatefold jacket itself. A great package and a killer debut album, we're pretty hyped to have this available again! Just in time too as their new album No Ghost will be dropping via RVA brethren Rorschach Records later this year. Until then, you can pick up Blue (and/or their beastly Self-Titled collections LP) now in the Robotic Empire - Online Store. Appropriately, we've got some sweet CAPSULE t-shirts there too :)
